Delhi HC Orders EC to Give Common Symbol to Akhil Bharatiya Jan Sangh for Bihar Polls

October 10, 2025

Delhi High Court turned the heat on the Election Commission on October 9, 2025. In a lively courtroom drama, Justice Mini Pushkarna ordered the commission to quickly give a common symbol to the Akhil Bharatiya Jan Sangh. Why the rush? To help the party contest the upcoming Bihar State Assembly election with proper identity! The court's order said, "It is directed that a common symbol shall be allotted forthwith to the petitioner to contest the State Assembly election of Bihar." The Akhil Bharatiya Jan Sangh, a veteran in India's political arena, told the court they were formed in 1951 and got renamed in 1979. This party has been fighting elections for decades and regularly asked the Election Commission for a symbol that voters can recognize. For example, in the 2024 Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections, the party was allotted the common symbol "sitar." The plea strongly pointed out that their right to contest elections is protected by the constitution and laws. They warned that not having a common symbol snatches away their chance to fight the elections fairly. With this court order, the party is all set to get their symbol and show up in Bihar's political ring once again. This decision will surely spice up the upcoming Bihar elections and give voters another choice to cheer for!
