RGI Directs States to Appoint Census Staff by January 2026 for Census 2027

The Registrar General of India has told all states and UTs to appoint census functionaries like enumerators and supervisors by January 15, 2026. The Census 2027 will be done in two phases and use a new web portal to track progress. About 30 lakh field workers will be involved in counting India's population.
