Rush of Patna Migrants Hiking Home To Vote Sparks Excitement Ahead of Bihar Assembly Polls

November 7, 2025

Patna is buzzing with excitement as many city residents, who have come here for work or studies, rush back to their native places to vote in the first phase of the Bihar assembly elections on November 6. The big scene? Crowded train stations like Patna Junction, Danapur railway station, Rajendra Nagar Terminal, and Patliputra Junction, plus packed bus stands. The joy of voting was clearly on faces. Ravi Prakash, who works in a private firm, shared, "Everyone should vote to choose the right candidates who can work for development. The voting day is on a working day, but my boss granted me leave so I could reach my native village in Siwan to vote." Ravi Kumar, a pharma company employee heading to Siwan by bus, said with a sparkle, "I've been waiting for the moment for four years as this would be my first experience as a voter. I’ll make sure my vote counts." Not everyone stuck to trains or buses; some chose smoother rides. Sitaram Prasad, running a coaching institute on Boring Road, said, "I will leave for my village in Vaishali district by car in the morning as the distance is not much. I could easily reach the polling booth at the time of voting." Closer home voters took their bikes for a more direct route. Construction worker Baiju Rai from Minapur block in Muzaffarpur explained, "Our local candidate’s family has done a lot for us. They have personally asked every local people to be present in their respective areas to cast their votes. It takes around four hours to reach my native place, but still, I prefer a bike ride." The mood was electric, filled with hope and determination. A group of construction workers travelling in the general train coach expressed, "We'll vote for the party that promises us employment and development. We're tired of corruption." This grand migration from Patna captures the spirit of democracy alive and kicking, with voters ready to choose leaders who can truly serve them and bring progress to Bihar.
