IMD Rings Alarm Bells! Cyclone Alert for Andaman and Nicobar as Bay of Bengal Shows Cyclonic Fury

November 4, 2025

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has raised a big red flag for the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. On Monday, they issued a 'Cyclone Alert' after spotting a cyclonic circulation swirling over the Bay of Bengal. Officials say this weather system looks set to grow stronger starting November 4.\n\nEarly on November 2, around 8:30 am, a low-pressure area started forming over the east-central Bay of Bengal and near Myanmar's coast. A senior IMD official explained, "The associated cyclonic circulation extends up to 5.8 km above mean sea level. It is likely to move north and then northwestwards along and off the Myanmar-Bangladesh coasts during the next 48 hours."\n\nThis weather update is crucial, especially since the IMD warned of wild squally weather with powerful surface winds reaching up to 55 kmph over the North Andaman Sea. The official also added, "The system is likely to intensify from November 4 onwards, and the sea conditions will remain rough."\n\nLocal authorities wasted no time and quickly advised the fishing community not to sail into the sea along and off the North Andaman Sea. Boat operators, island residents, and tourists have been strongly urged to stay extra cautious and avoid fun activities and ventures into the sea during this tense time.\n\nWith rough seas and roaring winds on the horizon, it's clear - safety first! The sky and sea are stirring up some drama, and everyone on the islands must buckle up and keep a close eye on weather updates. After all, in the face of nature's fury, prudence is the best shield.
