Ronda Rousey, the former UFC women’s bantamweight champ, is standing tall and proud! In a lively chat on Bertcast with comedian Bert Kreischer in October 2025, she made it very clear – she is the greatest woman mixed martial artist ever, and she won't let anyone shake that belief. Rousey said she’s tired of people questioning her legacy and explained that greatness isn’t just about comparing fighters from different times. “I was the most dominant and farthest ahead of my time,” she declared with confidence. “I’ll die on that hill.” From 2013 to 2015, Rousey was unstoppable. She defended her title six times and knocked out five opponents in the very first round! Though her reign ended with losses to Holly Holm and Amanda Nunes, her impact is still huge. Rousey reminded everyone, “My fight was never just in the cage; it was about opening doors for every woman who came after me.” During the Bertcast episode, she admitted she expected backlash for calling herself the GOAT. “Everyone flipped out over it,” Rousey said. But to her, being the greatest means crushing your rivals and being way ahead of the game. She pointed out: “No other woman had done what I did during my championship stretch.” Her bold words instantly sparked heated debates online. While many fans cheered her on, some argued that fighters like Valentina Shevchenko and Amanda Nunes have gone beyond Rousey’s records. Former UFC fighter Chael Sonnen jumped into the conversation too. On his YouTube channel, he put fans' reactions in perspective, saying they never truly loved Rousey but only backed the winners. “They don’t hate you,” he explained. “They were never with you, and they never loved you. That’s just how being a fan works.” Rousey didn’t stop there. She also criticized today’s women’s MMA scene for being too “safe” and careful. “A lot of women are trying to be as inoffensive as possible,” she said bluntly. Rousey hotly warned this approach almost cost women’s MMA its place in the sport. Her strong advice to fighters: “You have to make your space, not ask for space.” She believes the fearless spirit that made her era special is fading, and fighters today need to fight not just for wins but to be remembered loud and clear.
