Tragedy at Ennore Power Plant: 9 Workers Dead, Rs 10 Lakh Compensation Announced by CM Stalin

Shock and sadness grip Ennore as a steel arch collapses at a power plant construction site, claiming the lives of nine workers. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin felt the pain deeply and quickly stepped forward with a big heart. In a touching post on social media platform X, Stalin shared, "I was deeply saddened to hear the news that nine workers from the state of Assam lost their lives in an accident that occurred during the construction work of the power plant being carried out by #BHEL company in Ennore." He offered heartfelt condolences to the families and announced a generous compensation of ₹10 lakh for each deceased worker's family. Not stopping there, Stalin has ordered the state electricity minister, Thiru. @Sivasankar1ss, and the Chairman of Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (TANGEDCO), Thiru. @Rakr, to rush to the accident site and carry out relief work. He also ensured that the bodies of the victims will be safely transported back to their home state. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also shared his sorrow in a strong message. The PM’s Office wrote on X, "Saddened by the mishap due to the collapse of a building in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. My thoughts are with the affected people and their families in this difficult hour. Praying for the speedy recovery of the injured." To support the families, he declared an ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh from PMNRF for the next of kin of each deceased and Rs. 50,000 for those injured. Dr J Radhakrishnan, Chairman of TANGEDCO, gave more details about the tragedy. He said, "There was an unfortunate incident at the Ennore Thermal Power construction site where a steel arch fell and nine people died. These people were from Assam and the surrounding areas. One person is injured. BHEL officials are present at the spot." Police officials confirmed that the exact cause of the collapse is still under investigation with a thorough probe underway. In this hour of grief, the whole state and country stand united, sending strength and support to the families affected by this heartbreaking accident.
