Tamil Nadu CM M K Stalin Demands India Pressure Israel to Stop Gaza 'Genocide'

October 9, 2025

In a fiery appeal, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin has urged the Indian government to pressure Israel to halt what he calls a "genocide" in Gaza. Speaking on Wednesday at a protest rally organized by the Communist Party of India (Marxist) in Chennai, Stalin demanded that the BJP-led central government act now. "BJP-led central government should make an attempt to put pressure on Israel and the countries that stand by it so that the genocide can be stopped," he declared. The protest was held to unite people with humanitarian values and to condemn the brutal attacks by Israel on Gaza. Stalin said, "The indiscriminate attacks carried out by Israel on Gaza are shaking the hearts of all of us." He emphasized that these actions shake the core of humanity and violate international human rights laws as well as United Nations principles. The Tamil Nadu CM has been vocal over the recent weeks against the killings in Gaza. On September 8, through a social media post, he shared his deep sorrow, stating he was "shaken beyond words by what is unfolding in Gaza". He insisted that "when innocent lives are being crushed in this way, silence is not an option." The Communist Party of India (Marxist), which organized the protest, also called on the Indian government to cancel all trade agreements with Israel as a strong message of protest. They want Indian authorities to ban Israeli firms from taking part in AeroDefCon 2025 — a big event focused on Aerospace and Defence sectors. This bold stand by TN's chief minister and CPI(M) highlights growing concerns about human rights in the region and India's role on the global stage. Will the central government heed the call and push for peace? Only time will tell, but the voices in Chennai are loud and clear: stop the violence in Gaza now!
