Gaza City has been rocked by fierce airstrikes that killed at least 32 people, including 12 innocent children, as Israeli forces step up their heavy attack. The morgue at Shifa Hospital confirmed the tragic numbers, showing the grim toll of violence hitting homes and families. Recent days have seen Israel destroy multiple tall buildings in Gaza City, accusing Hamas of using them for spying and surveillance. Israel has ordered residents to evacuate this large Palestinian city, calling it Hamas' last stronghold. Yet, hundreds of thousands remain trapped in tough conditions marked by severe hunger and fear. One heartbreaking strike in the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood wiped out a whole family of 10 — a mother and her three children included — as health officials reported. Shots of smoke and destruction followed, painting a grim picture of the conflict’s cost on everyday lives. Israel’s military, called the IDF, has not immediately answered questions about this specific strike. However, they have been firm on their message, urging Palestinians in Gaza City to "leave immediately" and head south to what they call a "humanitarian zone." Army spokesman Avichay Adraee said more than 250,000 people have fled from around one million residents in northern Gaza. The United Nations, however, gives a lower figure: around 100,000 people fled between mid-August and mid-September. UN and aid groups warn that pushing hundreds of thousands to move will only worsen the already devastating humanitarian crisis. The safe areas in southern Gaza where people are told to go are overcrowded and moving costs money, which many families simply don't have. Adding fuel to the crisis, a UN-led project to bring tents and aid into Gaza has seen 86,000 tents and supplies waiting to be cleared and allowed into the area. Without these essentials, people remain vulnerable. The Health Ministry of Gaza reported that seven people, including children, died from malnutrition-related issues just in the past 24 hours. Since the war started, 420 people have died from malnutrition, including 145 children. The bombardment follows Israel's recent strike targeting Hamas leaders in Qatar, making the fight even more dangerous and hurting chances for peace talks. Meanwhile, families of 48 hostages still held in Gaza beg Israel to stop the attacks, fearing for their loved ones’ lives. About 20 hostages are still believed to be alive. This terrible war erupted when Hamas militants attacked southern Israel on October 7, 2023, killing around 1,200 people and kidnapping 251. Israel’s response has been fierce, with over 64,803 Palestinians killed so far, nearly half women and children, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry. Entire city areas lie in ruins, and about 90% of 2 million Palestinians have been forced to leave their homes. The airstrikes continue, the horror grows, and the world watches. Will peace come soon? Or will more innocent lives be lost in this deadly cyclone of war?
