The tragic killing of 31-year-old conservative activist Charlie Kirk, a well-known Trump ally, has reignited a fiery feud inside the far-right world. This battle is between Kirk and the notorious "Groyper" movement led by white nationalist Nick Fuentes. Nick Fuentes hit the spotlight in 2022 when former President Donald Trump invited him and rapper Kanye West, also known as Ye, to his private club in Florida. Trump later said the dinner with Fuentes was accidental and that he didn’t know who Fuentes was at the time. Kanye West, however, was “really impressed with Nick Fuentes,” according to Trump. But who is Nick Fuentes? He is a white nationalist famous for his hateful, racist, and antisemitic comments. Groups like the Anti-Defamation League have tracked his dangerous words. Fuentes has faced bans from Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube because of hate speech. After Charlie Kirk was fatally shot, fingers quickly pointed to extremist groups, especially Fuentes’ "Groyper Army." This far-right group has long attacked Kirk, calling him a “fake conservative” and a “gatekeeper” of mainstream conservatism. Social media now links the shooting suspect, 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, to Fuentes’ movement. Robinson’s family said he had become “more political” over the years. Back in 2019, the "Groyper Wars" revealed the rivalry. Fuentes and his supporters disrupted Turning Point USA events hosted by Kirk, clashing with him over issues like immigration and LGBTQ rights. Nick Fuentes’ story is chilling. Raised in a Chicago suburb, he took part in the violent "Unite the Right" rally in Charlottesville in 2017. Fuentes denies the Holocaust and has praised Hitler publicly—comments that horrify many. He has also voiced hateful opinions about women, Muslims, and LGBTQ+ people. In 2023, he shockingly said he fantasized about marrying a 16-year-old because “that’s right when the milk is good.” Fans of Fuentes see him as the bold new face of far-right racism that has grown during Trump’s rise. Experts say his clashes with bigger conservative figures like Kirk show how fierce right-wing rivalries have become. Fuentes even appeared near the January 6, 2021 Capitol attack, shouting slogans and encouraging violence. Although he wasn’t charged, some of his followers were arrested. The "Groyper Army" openly promotes white nationalist, antisemitic, and homophobic ideas, hidden beneath talk of "traditional values."
