In the heart of Beijing, a hair salon is buzzing with patriotic flair! As the city prepares for China’s biggest military parade to celebrate the 80th anniversary of World War Two’s end, hairdresser Wang Xueru has started a unique trend. Children are asking for special hair designs—like the national flag or tank shapes—etched as undercuts, a close shave allowing intricate carvings. Wang, 34, spotted this rising demand early this month. Inspired, she decided to offer these fancy designs free of charge. "I thought, well how about offering these hair carving activities free of charge? As long as the little one is willing, we can carve it for free," she told reporters. Of course, the usual haircut still costs, but the patriotic carvings come complementary! With just days before the parade, Wang is excited to watch the vibrant event on TV or live streams, hoping to spot children sporting her works of art. "I'll see if I can find a child with a small flag design on their head. They may have been my client," she said, beaming with pride. Dubbed "Victory Day," the parade celebrates the end of WWII after Japan’s surrender and will display China’s growing military strength. Spectators will see dazzling displays of fighter jets, missile defense systems, and hypersonic weapons in a grand choreography. Families like Chen Nan’s have embraced this creative spirit. Chen brought her son for a themed trim and shared, "I think for the children it also has great educational meaning. For our family, from the perspective of the motherland, a stronger China means we won't be bullied anymore. And for my family, of course, peace is the most important thing - we just hope for lasting peace." This fusion of patriotism, education, and style shows how even a haircut can become a symbol of national pride and hope for the future!
