A 16-year-old boy was found dead in a creek at Blue Gum forest in Blue Mountains National Park. He went missing after becoming separated from his 17-year-old friend during a camping trip. The two teenagers took a train to Leura station on Tuesday and walked to Mount Hay. The older boy activated his personal locator beacon just before 6pm on Wednesday to call for help. Emergency teams, including rescue helicopters and paramedics, launched a search that lasted until Thursday afternoon. The 17-year-old was rescued from Acacia Flats camping ground, about 36km from Mount Hay. The body of the missing boy was discovered around 1pm on Thursday. NSW police said, "A post-mortem examination will be conducted in coming days to determine the cause of death, and a report will be prepared for the information of the coroner." More details are expected soon.
