Yadgir Targets Higher SSLC Rank With 27 New Teaching Initiatives for 2025-26
January 24, 2026
Yadgir's Education Department is working hard to improve SSLC exam results for 2025-26. Last year, the district ranked 33rd in the state. Officials hope to climb at least two spots this year. To reach this goal, they have launched 27 activities. These include special teaching during summer vacations, guest teachers filling in for staff shortages, Saturday quizzes, and Sunday special classes. Teachers also visit homes and use creative methods like drawing science figures on students' hands in Mehendi and making Rangoli designs. Hostellers get night classes, and parents receive wake-up calls to encourage student attendance and study.
Deputy Director Channabasappa S. Mudhol told The Hindu, "We aren’t just saying verbally it but also implemented 27 different new activities to improve results."
About 14,894 students registered for SSLC this year. They took preparatory exams from January 5 to 10. Out of 14,286 students who appeared, 10,279 (72%) passed, while 4,007 failed, and 608 were absent.
One big challenge is a shortage of permanent teachers. Yadgir has 141 high schools with 1,548 teacher posts, but only 852 are filled. The rest are vacant. To handle this, guest teachers have been appointed and placed where needed. "We are running classes through them where it has become necessary," said Mr. Mudhol.
The focused efforts aim to boost Yadgir’s SSLC results and secure a better place in the state rankings in 2026.
