Police arrested four men for harassing a woman and assaulting her fiancé in southeast Bengaluru’s Madiwala area. The accused are Mohith, Vijaykumar, Tejaswi, and David, aged 25 to 35. The incident happened on January 19 around 1 a.m. near Maruti Nagar. The men were partying and stepped out to buy cigarettes. While returning, they saw the couple and made a vulgar comment at the woman. She shouted at them. The couple followed the men for 800 to 900 metres. The fiancé questioned them about their behaviour. The accused then called two friends for backup and attacked the fiancé. The woman tried to intervene, but the men continued the assault and touched her inappropriately. The police filed an FIR under sections 79 (insult to modesty of a woman) and 115 (petty organised crime) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. The case is under investigation.
