BJP Protests Congress Lawmakers' Unruly Conduct During Governor's Speech
January 24, 2026
On January 24, the BJP held a protest at Ramaswamy Circle condemning the unruly behavior of Congress lawmakers during the Governor's address at the State Legislature's special session. This came a day after Congress leaders, led by former MLA M.K. Somashekar, held a dharna against Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot for not reading the entire state government's prepared speech. BJP workers carried placards featuring photos of ruling party legislators and shouted slogans demanding their suspension. They insisted the Congress government apologise to the Governor for disrespect shown during the session. The protesters also called for the resignation of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, blaming the Congress government for its failures.
