January 20, 2026
The Chilakalapudi Police have launched an investigation after a fake Facebook account using the name and photo of Krishna district Superintendent of Police V. Vidyasagar Naidu came to light. Scammers created the fake profile and sent friend requests to the public, asking for money. "When the issue came into our notice, we have blocked the fake account, removed the related link and alerted the public," said Machilipatnam Deputy Superintendent of Police Ch. Raja. Both Chilakalapudi and Cybercrime police are tracing those responsible, the DSP told The Hindu on Tuesday. The public is urged to stay vigilant and report any suspicious messages or online frauds to the National Cybercrime Portal at number 1930, the DSP added.
