Discovery Gardens Starts Paid Parking from January 2026; Residents Need Parkonic Permits
January 20, 2026
Discovery Gardens in Dubai will introduce paid on-street parking starting January 15, 2026. The new system requires residents to get parking permits through the official Parkonic app. Licence zone signs are now up across the community. Each residential unit without private parking gets one free vehicle permit. Extra vehicles need a paid subscription costing around Dh945 monthly or Dh2,625 quarterly.
Parkonic has warned residents against informal private parking offers seen on social media. According to Parkonic, "all valid parking permits can only be obtained through its official app or authorised channels." Paying outside these channels risks visitor charges or fines.
Some residents say second vehicle fees are too high and want reductions to Dh500-Dh600. Tenants in the Zen Cluster point out they do not get free street permits if they have basement parking, facing visitor charges instead. They say this is unfair compared to others in Discovery Gardens.
Parkonic extended the permit registration deadline to January 19 after users reported app problems like errors and trouble activating permits. They assured no fines will be given while technical issues continue and said support teams are helping residents.
This paid parking plan is part of Dubai’s wider effort to control street usage, reduce misuse, and prioritize residents. The system seeks to ease traffic and free up spaces but also shows the need for clear communication and flexible rules as the community adjusts. Resident feedback might lead to fee and policy changes soon.
