750 Students Shine at The Hindu in School Science Festival and Ramanujam Spark Quest in Mysuru

Mysuru hosted a grand science celebration on January 17 as nearly 750 students from Classes 6 to 10 gathered for The Hindu in School Science Festival and Ramanujam Spark Quest. Held at Nanjaraja Bahadur Choultry, the event attracted participants from Mysuru city, Mandya, and Chamarajanagar districts. The festival saw 145 teams from 26 schools competing in science, alongside 450 students from 34 schools in the math Olympiad.
Additional Deputy Commissioner P. Shivaraj inaugurated the event and praised the platform for nurturing creativity and scientific temper among children. He said, "Platforms like The Hindu in School Science Festival play an important role in igniting innovative thinking and nurturing creativity among students." He encouraged all students to make the best use of such opportunities.
The event displayed an exciting array of science models and projects. Students showcased innovations such as water quality management, a voice-activated smart dustbin, water conservation ideas, and ways to convert footsteps into clean electricity. Other projects included load-sensor systems for public transport crowd control and eco-friendly tiles made from areca husk and clay.
B. Pushparaj, academic director of Excellent Moodubidire, shared success stories of students cracking tough exams like NEET and highlighted the support for science aspirants. Divakar Das of SLV Book Agencies also addressed the participants.
The judging panel, including Col. Sathish B.S. (retd) and PU college lecturers, carefully evaluated the projects to select the top 10. Visitors and parents appreciated the event as a valuable platform for young minds to explore and develop their interest in science.
Overall, the festival was a lively meet full of innovation, passion, and promise for the future of science in the region.
