Cyberabad Police Book 73 for Online Abuse and Harassment of Actress Anasuya Bharadwaj
January 13, 2026
On January 12, 2026, Cyberabad police booked 73 accused for sustained online abuse, sexual harassment, criminal intimidation, and defamation of Telugu actress Anasuya Bharadwaj. The FIR includes individuals like Bojja Sandhya Reddy, Priya Chowdary Gogineni, Vijayalakshmi, and others, along with media personnel and multiple TV and digital channels such as Big TV Telugu, 10TV Entertainment, and RTV News Network. The case arose after Anasuya publicly supported personal freedom following a controversy sparked by derogatory remarks from another Telugu actor on women’s clothing on December 22, 2025. After her calm reaction during a media event on December 23 and subsequent mention by the actor in a press meet, abusive and threatening messages flooded her social media. The complaint reports escalation to direct threats against her and her family, circulation of AI-generated deepfake images with sexual edits, and derogatory comments causing mental distress and damage to her reputation. Specific URLs and social media accounts sharing abusive content are listed in the complaint. The case is filed under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Information Technology Act covering sexual harassment, insult to modesty, criminal intimidation, defamation, and publishing obscene material electronically. Cyberabad Police will investigate the digital evidence and take further action according to law.
