On December 9, 2025, Tirupati police registered a case against an auto driver for sexually assaulting a 17-year-old college student. The incident took place on December 3 under Alipiri police limits. The girl, a polytechnic student living in a private hostel, booked an auto via a ride-hailing app. The driver, Sai Kumar, dropped her off but kept contacting her, offering money. He later invited her to a room pretending to provide financial help. There, he sexually assaulted her and threatened to kill her if she told anyone. After fearing the consequences, the girl finally sought help from a friend who advised her to approach the police. A case was registered under Cr.No.448/2025, under the POCSO Act and related sections. Police formed special teams and interrogated the accused’s relatives and accomplices. They have launched a manhunt to catch Sai Kumar, who remains on the run.
