Excise Teams Seize 108 Ganja Plants, 3.6 Kg Dry Ganja in Telangana Raids

Excise teams in Vikarabad, Sangareddy, and Hyderabad acted fast to stop illegal ganja farming and transport. Over 108 plants and 3.6 kg of dry ganja were seized in separate operations. Officials also confiscated a car, mobile phones, and goods valued at more than ₹23 lakh.
In Vikarabad, officials found 108 ganja plants growing secretly among cotton, turmeric, and red gram crops on Tuesday. The plants could have yielded 20 to 25 kg of dry ganja, worth about ₹12 lakh. Excise Superintendent Vijaya Bhaskar Goud has asked the District Collector to suspend Rythu Bandhu benefits for farmers caught growing ganja. The plants belonged to Errolla Prabhakar and Errolla Pentaiah from Barwad village, Kotepally mandal. Some mature plants were already harvested and sold. Tandoor excise police registered a case and investigations continue.
In Sangareddy district, excise officers stopped a car near Andhra Colony on NH-65, Malkapur. They seized 1.7 kg of ganja smuggled from Odisha. The ganja was valued at ₹50,000. Officials also seized the car worth ₹11 lakh and three mobile phones worth ₹50,000. Three men—J. Arun Nayak, L. Sai Pranay, and N. Vijayender—were arrested. Another suspect from Odisha is still on the run.
In Hyderabad, the State Task Force seized 1.2 kg of ganja from Mallepally and Office Nagar near Nampally railway station. A man named H. Sumit was arrested. Others named in the case, including Upadhyaya Biju, Chanda, Ajay, Niranjan, and Sohal, remain at large. The seized ganja was sent to Nampally excise station for further investigation.
