Big news from the world peace arena! PM Narendra Modi was invited by US President Donald Trump and Egypt's President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to join a special Gaza peace summit. This meeting, set for Monday in the sunny resort city of Sharm El-Sheikh, will gather leaders from more than 20 countries. It aims to push for peace and stability in the turbulent Middle East. But here is the twist — Modi can't make it this time. India’s Minister of State for External Affairs, Kirti V Singh, will attend instead because there wasn’t enough time for PM Modi or External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar to travel to Egypt. Modi has been a strong supporter of Donald Trump’s Gaza peace plan before. He called the steps toward releasing hostages “a significant step forward” in solving the longstanding conflict. He also told Trump, “India remains steadfast in its commitment to supporting all initiatives that contribute to a durable and just peace in the region.” The invite arrived just on Saturday and includes leaders from France, Germany, Turkey, the UK, Italy, Pakistan, Spain, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the European Union. Surprisingly, Israel and Hamas, the main parties involved, will NOT attend. This summit follows talks that helped agree on a ceasefire and the release of hostages by Hamas and prisoners by Israel. Egypt’s goal for this summit is clear: to focus on peace in the Gaza Strip, encourage new efforts for peace and stability in the Middle East, and introduce a new era of regional security. Meanwhile, Modi has a packed schedule. Right after this, he will host Mongolia’s President Khurelsukh Ukhnaa on Tuesday. Plus, Jaishankar will discuss bilateral matters with Canada’s Foreign Minister Anita Anand on Monday. According to Reuters, Donald Trump will first visit Israel on Monday to speak to the Knesset, Israel’s Parliament, before heading to Egypt for the summit. It promises to be a crucial meeting that might change the course of peace in the Middle East!
