UP BLO's Shocking Suicide: Pressure Over Voter List Edits Sparks Political Firestorm!
November 27, 2025
In the quiet district of Gonda, Uttar Pradesh, a disturbing tragedy rocked local politics on Tuesday, November 25, 2025. Vipin Yadav, a BLO and assistant teacher, took his own life, sparking a heated controversy that is shaking the state's election process.
Yadav, who was posted as an assistant teacher at Jaitpur Majha Primary School and served as a BLO in Khempur gram panchayat, reportedly faced extreme pressure during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise. His family claims that officials pressured him to remove names of voters belonging to a certain caste group.
A heart-wrenching video has gone viral, showing a relative of Yadav saying, “The SDM and the BDO threatened him and asked him to remove the names of OBC voters. Before dying, he told me over the phone that the officers were threatening to suspend him.”
On Tuesday morning, overwhelmed by the pressure, Yadav reportedly consumed poison. Colleagues rushed him to a private hospital, which then referred him to a medical college in Lucknow. Sadly, he was declared dead there.
The Gonda District Administration strongly denied these serious allegations, stating, “Everyone involved in the SIR exercise was doing the work as per rules.” They called the claims about deleting names based on caste “completely false.” To clear the air, the administration has formed a committee to investigate Yadav’s death.
Political voices have not stayed silent. Opposition leaders have blasted the ruling BJP government, pointing fingers at its 'dictatorial working style.' Anil Yadav, a senior Congress leader in UP, said, “The Election Commission and the BJP government together are ruining the entire country. This is not just a personal tragedy; it is a proof of the dictatorial working style of the BJP, where honest officers are threatened to remove voters’ names. A young man who works hard like a farmer to earn a living is killed under pressure.”
He further condemned what he called “politics of vote-cutting, citizenship-stripping, and trampling on people’s rights,” calling for an end to such practices.
This heartbreaking episode has thrown the spotlight on the sensitive and powerful world of voter lists and election exercises in India. The truth behind Vipin Yadav’s death is still unfolding, but the echoes of his story are loud and clear across the state and beyond.
