UP BLO Vipin Yadav's Tragic Suicide Sparks Heated Vote-List Removal Allegations Amid SIR Exercise
November 27, 2025
A tragic story has shaken Gonda district in Uttar Pradesh. Vipin Yadav, a BLO (Booth Level Officer) and assistant teacher, took his own life on Tuesday, November 25, 2025. His family claims that immense pressure from the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise drove him to this fatal step. What’s more shocking? They say Yadav was forced to remove names of voters from a certain caste group — the OBC community.
Vipin Yadav hailed from Malani Sarai Khas in Jaunpur district. He worked as an assistant teacher at Jaitpur Majha Primary School in Nawabganj block and served as BLO in the Khempur gram panchayat. His relatives revealed in a viral video that the SDM and BDO threatened him, demanding he delete OBC voters' names. "Before dying, he told me over the phone that the officers were threatening to suspend him," said a family member.
But the Gonda District Administration quickly shut down these claims. They said all officials involved in the voter revision exercise followed the rules properly. "Claims of instructions to remove names of voters of a particular caste is completely false," the administration stated clearly. To dig deeper, they have formed a committee to investigate Yadav’s death.
On that fateful Tuesday morning, Yadav reportedly took poison. His condition worsened quickly, and fellow teachers rushed him to a private hospital. He was later shifted to a medical college in Lucknow, where doctors declared him dead.
This sad event ignited fierce political reactions. Opposition parties pointed fingers at the BJP government, accusing it of a “dictatorial working style” that harasses honest officers. Senior Congress leader Anil Yadav expressed heavy criticism: "The Election Commission and the BJP government together are ruining the entire country. This is not just a personal tragedy; it is proof of the dictatorial working style of the BJP, where honest officers are threatened to remove voters’ names. A young man who works hard like a farmer to earn a living is killed under pressure."
He added, "It is clear that the BJP government does not value the lives of the youth of Uttar Pradesh and issues instruction to cut names of people hailing from marginalized sections. This politics of vote-cutting, citizenship-stripping, and trampling on people’s rights must end now."
The mysterious and unfortunate death of Vipin Yadav has become a hot topic. As the investigation unfolds, many eyes remain fixed on Gonda, waiting to see if justice will be served and how the sensitive issue of voter revisions will be handled in the future.
