TMC MLA's Babri Masjid Stone Plan on Dec 6 Sparks Political Storm in Murshidabad
November 26, 2025
Hold tight, Murshidabad! The political pot is boiling over a fiery announcement. Trinamool Congress (TMC) MLA Humayun Kabir has boldly declared that the foundation stone for a “Babri Masjid” will be laid on December 6 in Beldanga, Murshidabad district. This date is no ordinary day — it marks 33 years since the Babri Masjid was demolished in Ayodhya by Kar Sevaks in 1992.
Posters promoting this big event popped up all over Murshidabad, creating a buzz of excitement and tension alike. Kabir confidently said, "We will lay the foundation stone of Babri Masjid on 6th December in Beldanga, Murshidabad district." He also revealed plans for the mosque to be completed in just three years, with many Muslim leaders expected to join the event.
But wait! The rival camp isn’t happy. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) jumped into the fray, slamming Kabir’s move as a classic case of 'appeasement pro-max politics'. BJP national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla didn't hold back: "This is the appeasement pro-max politics of TMC. TMC now means 'Tushti Karan Mujhe Chahiye'. This controversial Humayun Kabir, who says he will chop off Hindus and throw them into Bhagirath, is now making yet another controversial statement because their philosophy is, give Hindus gali and take vote bank ki tali (abuse Hindus to gain a vote bank)."
Poonawalla further claimed, "They are the same people who oppose 'Jai Shri Ram', Ram Mandir, who have insulted 'Maa Sita,' 'Maa Durga,' 'Maa Kali', and say Sanatan should be eliminated."
Union Minister Giriraj Singh joined the BJP chorus, warning about the deeper meaning behind this event. He said, "The TMC will not lay the foundation stone of the Babri Masjid, but the foundation stone of Bangladesh," accusing Mamata Banerjee’s government of relying on Bangladeshis and Rohingyas.
But the TMC camp quickly distanced itself. North 24 Parganas MLA Nirmal Ghosh shot back, "He (Humayun Kabir) is not in contact with the party. His speeches have nothing to do with the party. They are his own statements, but the party doesn't agree with them. He has gone beyond the limits."
On the other side, Congress leader Udit Raj stepped up to defend Kabir’s plan, appealing for religious equality. "If the foundation stone of a temple can be laid, what's the problem with laying the foundation stone for a mosque? Those who oppose it are creating meaningless speculation. This is religious freedom in this country and in all countries," Raj told ANI.
The countdown to December 6 has begun, and the battle lines are drawn. Will this Babri Masjid foundation stone become a symbol of religious harmony or fresh political fireworks? Only time will tell!
