A tense situation unfolded at the University of Virginia (UVA) as police rushed to investigate reports of a possible active attacker near Shannon Library in Charlottesville. The warning shot across the bow kept students and staff on edge as academic buildings tightened access and everyone braced for the unexpected. But at 3:58 PM, UVA Police gave an update that calmed nerves slightly: "There is currently no evidence of an active attack," they said. However, they urged everyone to keep following the "RUN-HIDE-FIGHT" safety plan just in case. The police used X posts to keep the community informed. One said, "UVA Emergency Alert: 3:58 PM. Update - Police are continuing to investigate at Shannon Library. At this time there is no evidence that an attack has occurred. Continue to follow RUN-HIDE-FIGHT protocol until All Clear is issued." An earlier message at 3:41 PM echoed the same: "Police are continuing to investigate at Shannon Library. At this time there is no evidence of an Active Attacker. Continue to RUN-HIDE-FIGHT." Throughout the afternoon, police presence was strong, and access to academic buildings was restricted to keep everyone safe. While the air is still thick with uncertainty, UVA Police remain on high alert, and updates will follow as the story develops. Stay tuned and stay safe!
