Norwegian Man’s Indian Birthday Meal Sparks Racist Slurs on Social Media!

November 4, 2025

A Norwegian man happily celebrated his birthday with a plate of Indian food – chole chawal with naan. He shared a cheerful tweet saying, “Indian food for my birthday,” along with a mouth-watering picture of his meal. But what should have been a warm, happy post quickly turned ugly. While many people joined in the fun, praising him for trying Indian cuisine and suggesting new dishes, a bunch of nasty comments spoiled the joy. Some trolls dropped hateful and racist anti-India slurs, with a shocking twist of ignorance and cruelty. Comments referred to Indian food as "cow dung" and made sick jokes like, “That’s Indian food? I don’t see any cow poop.” Others said, “I can never eat Indian food,” or called the meal disgusting, asking, “Why does it look like poop? People actually choose to eat this?” One brutal comment was, “So you basically hate yourself.” This sad episode is part of a bigger picture. The Center for the Study of Organized Hate (CSOH), a Washington D.C.-based group, recently found a big rise in anti-India hate posts on Elon Musk’s social media platform X. Their report says these attacks don’t just target Hindus, but anyone perceived to be of Indian origin – including Sikhs. This incident shows how vibrant Indian culture still faces nasty racism online. But the cheers for the Norwegian man’s Indian meal remind us how food connects people across the world, despite the internet’s darker side.
