A tense drama is unfolding in Jacksonville as several agencies race to catch a suspect who shot a police officer. The suspect, Bobby Michael Dennis, is described as armed and dangerous. He was last seen wearing all black clothing. According to Jacksonville Police, Dennis is a black male and remains at large. The officer who was shot has been airlifted to a hospital in Tyler and is reported to be in stable condition. Multiple agencies like Texas DPS, Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, Jacksonville Police and Fire, and Texas Game Wardens have joined the hunt. Tyler Police are even blocking intersections to help with the response, said Tyler PD spokesperson Andy Erbaugh, citing CBS 19. Residents around Benson Memorial and the 1100 block of Churchill have been asked to stay inside, lock their doors, and keep their eyes open for any suspicious activity. But the trouble does not stop here. Just days earlier, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office was investigating the death of a man shot multiple times on Brentwood Avenue near Golfair Boulevard. Officers found the man, believed to be in his late thirties, around 6:15 pm on November 1. Several people were detained for questioning, but the exact details remain unclear. Authorities have urged anyone with information to contact the Sheriff's Office or provide anonymous tips via First Coast Crime Stoppers. In another recent case, a Jacksonville police officer shot a suspect after a wild car chase ended when the suspect's car crashed into a patrol vehicle and then a building. The suspect, described as appearing to be a young Black teenage male, ran even after officers ordered him to stop. The officer shot him when he reached into his pants, suspected of grabbing a gun. The teen was rushed to a hospital in critical condition and underwent surgery, according to Chief Alan Parker of the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office. These incidents reveal a city on edge, with law enforcement working around the clock to keep residents safe. The public is urged to stay alert and report anything unusual.
