October 29, 2025

Smriti Mandhana, the shining star of Indian women's cricket, has hit the pinnacle of glory! The 29-year-old left-handed opener is now the world’s number one batter in women’s ODI cricket. This sparkling rise happened after her fantastic performances in the recent home World Cup, where she dazzled fans and critics alike. Mandhana smashed a brilliant 109 against New Zealand and remained unbeaten at 34 against Bangladesh in her last two matches. These heroic innings pushed her rating to a career-best 828 points. This makes her almost 100 points ahead of Australia’s Ash Gardner, who sits second on 731 after a strong leap of six places sparked by her unbeaten century against England. This glowing run of form is no accident. Mandhana was already named ICC Women’s Player of the Month for September 2025 thanks to her fiery display in the ODI series against Australia before the World Cup. Now, she has truly cemented her top spot, proving she’s the queen of women's cricket right now! Other stars also enjoyed great moves in the rankings. South African captain Laura Wolvaardt climbed two places into the top three after strong knocks of 90 and 31 runs. England’s Amy Jones shot up four places to notch into the top ten at ninth. Annabel Sutherland, another rising star, made the biggest jump among the top 40 players, vaulting 16 spots to 16th place. India’s Pratika Rawal also entered the top 30 (27th), despite missing the rest of the World Cup due to injury, showing the depth of Indian talent. Spinners spun magic too! England’s Sophie Ecclestone remains the top in women’s ODI bowling with a rating of 747. But watch out! Australian leg-spinner Alana King is hot on her heels. King grabbed a terrific seven-wicket haul against South Africa, surged five spots up to a career-high 698 points, and overtook her teammate Gardner, now third with 689 points. Pakistan’s Nashra Sandhu and South Africa’s Nonkululeko Mlaba share 10th spot, while all-rounders like Marizanne Kapp and Sutherland moved up for strong performances. Gardner stayed supreme as the No.1 all-rounder with 503 rating points, but Kapp is gaining ground at No.2 with 422 points, overtaking West Indies’ Hayley Matthews. Sutherland is also making waves, moving up to fourth, and King broke into the top ten all-rounders. What a thriller of a cricket season it has been! Smriti Mandhana’s sparkling feats and the exciting jumps by many players promise an electrifying future for women’s cricket worldwide.
