Houston woke up to a shocking scene on Saturday morning as strong thunderstorms rampaged through the city. CenterPoint Energy, the main power company, reported a massive blackout, leaving 157,181 customers without electricity by 5:40 a.m. The storm packed such a punch that power lines couldn’t stand the heat, snapping all over Harris, Waller, and Montgomery counties. Storm Chaos and Tornado Threats The weather wasn’t done testing Houston’s nerves. Tornado warnings were issued for several counties including Waller, Harris, Montgomery, and many more, making the early morning even more tense. More Power Issues Nearby Adding fuel to the fire, Entergy, another power provider, reported 20,670 customers still powerless as of 5:30 a.m., deepening the blackout woes in Houston and surrounding areas.
