PUNE: A dramatic case has hit the headlines where six doctors are now in deep trouble! The Tofkhana police station in Ahilyanagar registered a case on Saturday against these doctors. What’s the scandal about? They stand accused of culpable homicide not amounting to murder, cheating, and forgery. The crime? They allegedly declared a 79-year-old man as Covid positive in 2020 — but here’s the twist — it was false. Not only did they fake his test reports, but they also gave him wrong treatment, which sadly led to his death. This long-pending case got a fresh push when the Aurangabad bench of the Bombay High Court gave directions on October 15. The patient's son, Ashok Khokarale, had been fighting a tough battle since 2022. He moved a criminal writ petition after the police refused to file an FIR, even though an inquiry in 2021 led by the district civil surgeon found clear medical negligence. What adds spice to this story is the inquiry committee only handed over its report when Khokarale filed a civil writ petition in 2021 demanding a copy. The civil surgeon’s report revealed some chilling details. It said, "the patient was administered remdesivir without a complete investigation".
