The political drama in Bihar is heating up as the state heads towards big elections! A fresh report released on Friday shines a spotlight on how busy the MLAs were in the 17th Bihar Legislative Assembly. Over five years, the assembly held 147 sittings spread across 15 sessions. That's an average of 29 days per year packed with serious debates and questions. Guess how many questions were asked? A whopping 22,500! Most of these questions targeted key issues like rural works, education, and health, showing where people's real concerns lie. And there was a lot of law-making too, with 99 bills introduced and passed - all on the same day they were brought in. Talk about quick decisions! The longest assembly sessions were the second and the fifth, each stretching over 22 sittings, giving plenty of time for heated discussions. The data was dug out from the Bihar assembly by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) and Bihar Election Watch using RTI applications, pulling the curtain back on MLA activities. Who topped the question leaderboard? Arun Shankar Prasad from BJP’s Khajauli seat stood tall, firing 275 questions like a pro! Close on his heels was Congress MLA Manohar Prasad Singh from Manihar with 231 questions. Not far behind were RJD’s Mukesh Kumar Yadav (230 questions), CPI(M) MP Ajay Kumar (229), and another RJD star Ajay Yadav (226). On average, every Bihar MLA asked 179 questions during their tenure. This number includes both starred questions (those requiring direct answers) and unstarred ones (for records). With such punchy performance from the MLAs, the Bihar assembly was far from dull as the state marches towards a high-energy poll fight.
