Artificial intelligence is fast changing the way industries work. But here’s good news: jobs are not disappearing, just changing! Nitin Mittal, Principal and Global AI Leader at Deloitte, revealed this exciting truth on Friday at the NDTV World Summit 2025. In a session called "The Last Job? AI and the Future of Work," Mittal said, "I have not come across a single job lost to AI." That’s super surprising and hopeful! Mittal explained that while some parts of a job, like repetitive coding (called white coding), might be affected, jobs are evolving instead of vanishing. He highlighted “Agentic AI” — smart systems that can set their own goals and act on them with almost no human help. These AI types will surely impact jobs, but no job has been wiped out yet. Mittal also spoke about "sovereign AI," which protects not just data but a country’s culture and language. When asked how India can avoid being just a “back office” in the global AI race, Mittal pointed to India’s strong services sector as a big advantage. But there’s a twist — to win big, India needs massive re-skilling and investment. “The challenge is that instead of being concerned about the impact on jobs, we should focus on how we can be investors and consumers of AI,” he said. The government has started many AI programs, but society must join the ride to truly transform. So, instead of fearing AI, India should embrace it with open arms, upgrade skills, and lead the AI revolution!
