Imagine your letters arriving within 24 hours! Yes, the 24-hour Speed Post will promise just that – delivery of mails in just a day. But wait, if you’re a little less rushed, the 48-hour Speed Post will ensure delivery within two days. And it’s not just mails getting the express treatment. Parcels that usually take around 3 to 5 days to reach your doorstep will now come with a guarantee of next-day delivery. As the minister said, "We are going to launch new products with guaranteed delivery of mails and parcels. There will be 24-hour Speed Post service which will ensure delivery of mails within 24 hours. Similarly, there will be a 48-hour Speed Post for delivery within 48 hours." The launch of these speedy services in January is part of a bigger game plan to change India Post’s fortunes. Currently seen as a 'cost centre,' the government wants to rev up its engines and turn it into a 'profit centre' by 2029.
