RAIPUR: What an exciting start for Chhattisgarh in the Senior Women’s T20 Trophy 2025! The spirited team took on Andhra Pradesh in the Elite Group opener at Gwalior on Wednesday and clinched a narrow 9-run victory. Chhattisgarh won the toss and chose to bat first, setting up a competitive total of 110 runs for six wickets in their 20 overs. The star of their innings was Aishwarya Singh, who stood strong with an unbeaten 36 runs. She got excellent support from Kriti Gupta, who scored 20, and Mahak Narwase, who chipped in with 18 runs. Andhra Pradesh’s Shristi Sekhar showed her skill by taking two important wickets, while Shabnam and Anusha each grabbed one. When Andhra Pradesh came out to chase 111 runs, the target looked challenging but not impossible. Sneha Deepthi fought hard and scored a powerful 41 runs. Ranga Lakshmi added a solid 27 runs to the chase. But the disciplined bowling attack of Chhattisgarh made sure the pressure never eased up. Leading the bowling charge, Aditi Panwar grabbed two wickets, creating crucial breakthroughs. She was well backed up by Tarannum Pathan, Priti Yadav, and Urmila Harina, who each picked up a wicket. Despite Andhra Pradesh managing 101 runs for seven wickets in their 20 overs, they fell just short of the target. What a nail-biter of a match to kick off the tournament!
