No November Revolution! Siddaramaiah Dismisses Leadership Change Rumors in Karnataka

October 6, 2025

Hold your breath, Karnataka! Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Monday gave a loud and clear 'no' to the buzzing talk of a ‘November revolution’ in the state’s politics. Facing questions about a big leadership change next month, he snapped back, “No revolution, nothing of that sort. They are all an illusion,” while speaking to media in Koppal. This statement puts a full stop to wild guesses about him stepping down halfway through his five-year tenure. Why all this chatter? Well, Karnataka’s Congress government is about to cross its halfway mark in November. This triggered fresh whispers around secret talks in the All India Congress Committee (AICC) that DK Shivakumar, the state Congress chief, might take over as Chief Minister after Siddaramaiah completes 30 months in office. Shivakumar’s fans are all fired up, confident of the crown, whereas Siddaramaiah’s supporters stand firmly behind his leadership. Adding spice to the stew, BJP state president BY Vijayendra had called this potential shakeup a “November revolution” following Bihar’s election results. The BJP also tweeted from their official X account, blaming the power tussle within Congress for halting development programs in Karnataka. According to them, the state needs a permanent CM and charged that Siddaramaiah is acting like a "part-time CM." Vijayendra even hinted a link between the ongoing caste census and the possible leadership changes next month. But Siddaramaiah crushed these claims by calling them mere illusions. Meanwhile, the Congress party is also busy keeping a tight lid on controversies. DK Shivakumar, who is also KPCC president, sent warnings to party MLAs Dr HD Ranganath and former MP LR Shivarame Gowda for making public comments about changing leadership. These remarks stirred fresh speculation until AICC general secretary KC Venugopal stepped in last week to deny any such plans. Since Siddaramaiah became CM again in May 2023, rumours have flown that Shivakumar accepted the Deputy CM role only after securing a promise from the party brass. But with days ticking towards November, the only sure thing is the buzz. Yet the CM’s firm words make it clear: the “November revolution” is just smoke and mirrors, and Siddaramaiah is here to stay, steering Karnataka forward.
