Patna's festive spirit turned vibrant as Goddess Durga's idols were immersed in bright, artificial ponds set up along the Ganga riverbanks on Thursday and Friday. The Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) left no stone unturned, deploying cleaning teams at every ghat to keep the sacred spots spotless. Before the immersion, the sacred Dashami puja was performed with devotion. Areas like Shastri Nagar, the airport, and Rupaspur immersed idols on Thursday itself. The real excitement came on Friday when major puja committees, including the grand procession from Dak Bungalow chowk, paraded their idols with lively musical bands pulling crowds into celebrations. The district administration was very strict about environmental rules. Following the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, immersing idols in natural water bodies like the Ganga was banned. In a smart move, PMC created 10 artificial ponds along the river ghats for this purpose, along with several other immersion spots across the city. To keep everything safe and smooth, magistrates and police personnel worked in three shifts at all ponds and ghats. Plus, diving teams, the SDRF, and NDRF were ready nearby in case of emergencies. Safety was clearly the star guest! Patna's technology also wowed everyone. Patna Smart City Limited installed over 3,300 CCTV cameras in 415 spots. This smart network included 2,602 surveillance cameras, 473 red light violation detectors, 150 automatic number plate readers, 12 speed cameras, and 120 vehicle classification units. Public address systems at 69 different locations kept the crowd informed about hygiene, crowd control, and safety. These announcements reminded everyone to follow the festival guidelines and helped make the immersion celebrations peaceful and pollution-free. With the perfect mix of faith, festivity, technology, and strict rules, Patna’s Durga Puja idol immersion became a shining example of how tradition and modernity can dance together beautifully.
