Thane railway police have struck a winning blow against train thieves! They retrieved jewellery stolen over the years—since 2017—from passengers along the Thane railway section and returned it to its true owners. The total value of this recovered treasure is more than Rs 5 lakhs! How did they do this? Police teams cracked every case after smart investigations filled with watchful surveillance and solid intelligence. The jewellery remained safely under police care while legal processes wrapped up, said railway police commissioner M. Rakesh Kalasagar. Get this—six different cases reported at Thane, Mumbra, and Kalwa railway stations saw passengers losing precious items like a mangalsutra, pendants, beads, nose rings, and bangles. Many owners had almost given up hope. But Archana Dusane, senior inspector at Thane police, shared, "Most owners lost hope of getting back the ornaments and were thrilled to get them back ahead of the festive season." Here comes a dramatic twist! A 33-year-old woman from Ulhasnagar was caught red-handed stealing a gold mangalsutra on a crowded train last week, platform 3, during evening rush hour. Brave plainclothes police chased and caught her as she tried to run away. Following this arrest, more secrets spilled out. The thief admitted to dazzling us all with six other thefts across the railway section, snatching gold jewellery from helpless passengers packed in crowded compartments. "We recovered 27.5 grams of gold from her, valued at approximately Rs 2.72 lakhs," Inspector Dusane revealed. The woman cleverly used the chaos of packed trains to strike repeatedly, but the Thane police were hotter on her trail than the Mumbai heat! This heartwarming recovery not only brings back priceless ornaments but also the joy and trust of passengers before the festival lights shine bright. Thane railway police now stand as shining stars of justice for victims of these criminal acts.
