A terrifying attack shook Grand Blanc Township, Michigan, on September 28, 2025, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. A gunman drove a pickup truck crashing into the church, then stepped out and started shooting, leaving one person dead and nine others injured. But the horror didn’t end there – the suspect deliberately set the church on fire, sending smoke and flames pouring out for hours. The brave police didn’t wait long. Two officers chased the suspect and fired back in a fierce gunfight, killing the 40-year-old man from Burton. Police Chief William Renye told CNN, “We believe we have the guy who did this.” The suspect used an assault rifle in the attack. Authorities have now raided his home in Burton, searching for clues. The motive? It’s still a mystery. Officials don’t know why the shooter targeted the church or if he had any connection to it. No extra details about the man’s background or membership in the Mormon church have been shared yet. US President Donald Trump was quick to respond, calling the incident “horrendous.” He said the FBI rushed to the scene and is leading the investigation, working closely with state and local police. On his social media platform Truth Social, Trump declared, "This appears to be yet another targeted attack on Christians in the United States of America. The Trump Administration will keep the Public posted." Trump added a heartfelt plea: "In the meantime, PRAY for the victims, and their families. THIS EPIDEMIC OF VIOLENCE IN OUR COUNTRY MUST END, IMMEDIATELY!" Hundreds of people were inside the church when the violent scene unfolded. Flames finally died down after hours, but police warn they may find more victims hidden where the fire burned deepest. As the investigation continues, the nation watches and hopes for answers and healing after this dark day at the Michigan church.
