Ranchi witnessed a powerful message this Friday as Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan fired up the crowd at the East Tech symposium. He proudly announced that India is taking bold policy steps to build top-notch capabilities in space and cyber warfare. "There is a need to expand the defence manufacturing base, and artificial intelligence and other modern techniques have to be explored," said General Chauhan, shining a spotlight on the role of smart tech like AI in future defense. He stressed that picking the right weapons wisely is a must in today’s fast-changing battlefields. "Research and development (R&D) needs to be reviewed to suit modern requirements," he added, making it clear that India must keep up with fast-moving technological changes. The Chief of Defence Staff also talked about India’s journey in making its own defense gear. Though the country started late on indigenisation, he exclaimed, "India is on the right track." This homegrown push is not just about gadgets but also about smart policies and teamwork with states. He highlighted how states such as Jharkhand and West Bengal play a key role in the Centre's Act East policy and India’s dream of self-reliance in defense. To wrap up his fiery talk, General Chauhan said, "War is science and an art. A warrior needs to be creative and innovative in the present context." In other words, defeating future threats means India’s defense warriors must be clever, quick, and ready to think out of the box. With these bright plans and goals, India’s defense is gearing up for a thrilling leap ahead in space and cyber wars.
