A tragic accident shocked Hyderabad on Sunday evening, September 14, 2025, near Abdullapurmet on the Outer Ring Road (ORR). A speeding SUV carrying eight friends lost control, smashed into a road divider, and flipped onto the opposite side. Among the injured was a 25-year-old woman, Rallakatwa Sowmya Reddy, who worked at Infosys. Sadly, she died while receiving treatment. According to Abdullapurmet Police Inspector Ashok Reddy, the accident happened around 7:30 p.m. The SUV, an Innova Crysta, was driven by Veerendra. Sowmya and her seven friends—Nanda Kishore, Veerendra, Praneesh, Sagar, Arvind, Jhansi, and Shruti—had just visited Sarala Maisamma Temple. "The group of eight was returning in an Innova Crysta driven by Veerendra. At around 7.30 p.m., after entering the ORR at Exit 10, Bongloor, and proceeding towards Ghatkesar, the car lost control due to overspeeding near Balijaguda village limits. The vehicle hit the divider and overturned onto the opposite road towards Pedamberpet," explained Inspector Ashok Reddy. All eight occupants suffered bleeding injuries and were rushed to a private hospital in Hayathnagar for emergency care. Later, Sowmya Reddy and Nanda Kishore were moved to a hospital in Uppal for specialized treatment. Despite efforts, Sowmya succumbed to her injuries. The grieving father, 51-year-old Rallakatwa Venkateshwer Reddy, who works privately in Vavilala village of Jinnaram mandal, Sangareddy, filed the complaint. The Abdullapurmet Police promptly registered a case and began investigating the circumstances around this heartbreaking accident. This tragic mishap serves as a sharp reminder to all drivers about the dangers of overspeeding on busy roads like the ORR. Stay safe, and always drive carefully!
