Dish TV, India's popular DTH service, is shaking up the entertainment world! Boss Manoj Dobhal revealed a spicy secret: soon, one-fourth of Dish TV’s earnings will come from outside their usual DTH services. How? By diving into exciting new markets like smart TVs with their dazzling VZY range. Imagine a single TV that gives you both DTH and OTT shows—a full entertainment party in one device! The VZY lineup currently boasts seven models, from a neat 32-inch HD to a grand 55-inch 4K UHD QLED, with prices starting at Rs 12,000 and going up to Rs 45,000 for the top model. Dish TV has already dipped its toes in fresh waters by launching the OTT platform 'Watcho' back in April 2019 and its quick-shopping platform 'Shopzop' in August 2025, which already features over 4,000 products. "This is just the beginning," said Dobhal during the VZY launch event talking to PTI. He boldly added, "We would not be a brand known only for linear TV going forward. In two years' time, our vision is that Dish TV should be known for everything and anything around the content ecosystem, which goes from device to content and streaming to linear. We are going to be present in each one of them." Currently, non-DTH services make up about 10% of Dish TV’s total earnings, but the plan is to crank it up to 25% within 18 to 24 months. Though Dish TV earned Rs 1,567.6 crore in FY25, down from Rs 1,856.5 crore in FY24 due to fewer Pay TV subscribers, Dobhal is optimistic. "We are no longer only a DTH player, we are shifting the orbit, and this is a bold move towards a journey, which will pivot the organisation going forward," he said. Wondering about competition in the tough TV market? Over 20 players battle with thin margins, but Dobhal claims their VZY model is a league apart. Unlike others, VZY offers all content—from live TV to OTT—in a plug-and-play smart TV. No extra set-top boxes or cable needed! Currently, VZY smart TVs run on Google's smart TV platform but guess what? "Maybe in the next one and a half to two years, we will have our own operating system also," teased Dobhal.
