Shree Refrigerations Teams Up with Canada’s Smardt to Revolutionize India’s Data Center Cooling Market

September 9, 2025

Get ready for a cool change in India's tech world! Shree Refrigerations Limited (SRL), the expert in defense cooling solutions, just shook hands with Smardt Chillers from Canada to take on the $1.9 billion data center cooling market in India. This buzzing combo is set to offer super-efficient, oil-free chillers that keep data centers running smoothly and save tons of energy. SRL's own subsidiary, Trezor Technologies, will be the captain for selling, installing, and servicing these cutting-edge machines across India. Meanwhile, Smardt will power them up with top-notch tech support, training, and marketing help. This partnership is a game-changer. It lets SRL leap beyond its usual defense projects and dive deep into the data center pool — a sector crying out for reliable, energy-saving cooling tech. How cool? Smardt’s chillers use magnetic bearings instead of old-school oil. This means less power use, less maintenance, and 20-50% more energy savings than regular chillers. Plus, they help data centers achieve the lowest power usage effectiveness (PUE), a key for top performance. RG Shende, the big boss of SRL, said, “Data centers demand the highest levels of efficiency and uptime. Our association with Smardt allows us to deliver cutting-edge magnetic bearing chiller technology to Indian customers, strengthening our commitment to deliver efficient and reliable cooling solutions for mission-critical infrastructure.” He also shared that this new journey could add 10-15% to SRL's revenue in just three years. Derek Chan from Smardt Chillers added, “India is one of the fastest-growing data center markets globally and we are delighted to work with Shree Refrigerations Limited to bring our world-class magnetic bearing chiller technology to this market.” So far, SRL has already successfully handled 40+ magnetic bearing chillers in India. This fresh partnership means even bigger waves in the data center cooling game. Despite this exciting news, SRL's share price dipped slightly by 0.35% to Rs 211.25 on the BSE on Tuesday. But with energy-efficient chillers and a booming market, the future looks brighter and cooler!
