Goa’s GSUDA Launches Rs 5.7 Crore Project to Beautify Valvonti Riverfront in Sanquelim

September 9, 2025

Panaji: Hold your hats, Goa lovers! The Goa State Urban Development Agency (GSUDA) is rolling out a sparkling new project to breathe fresh life into the Valvonti river stretch near the Sanquelim Municipal Council office. This grand vision, under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) 2.0, carries a hefty price tag of Rs 5.7 crore and aims to turn this riverfront into a lively, beautiful, and relaxing spot. What’s cooking? A swanky promenade lined with attractive landscaping and overall beautification that will make the space a real treat for the eyes and the soul. But wait, there’s more! The contractor who bags this deal will have to complete the work within 12 months, carefully skipping the monsoon months when nature likes to play rough. GSUDA isn’t stopping at just finishing the construction; they have also demanded a solid operation and maintenance period of five years. This means the riverfront will stay clean, green, and well-looked-after long after the initial celebration is over. Talking money, bidders need to bring Rs 11.5 lakh as earnest money to the table. The successful contractor will also have to shell out 10% of the tendered amount as a security deposit, cleverly split into 5% performance guarantee and 5% security deposit. All bids must be valid for 90 days. A senior official from GSUDA shared the mission’s spirit: “The river is central to the identity of the town. This project will help create a cleaner, greener and more vibrant riverfront that can be enjoyed by residents and tourists.” With this dazzling makeover, Sanquelim’s riverfront is all set to become a superstar spot that blends nature’s beauty with community joy and pride.
