Srinagar: Drama and danger shook Tihar Jail as Engineer Rashid, the jailed Lok Sabha member from Baramulla, narrowly escaped a deadly attack! The Awami Ittehad Party (AIP) has raised a huge alarm after Rashid told his lawyer about a chilling plan targeting him and other Kashmiri prisoners inside the jail. During a recent legal meeting with his counsel, Advocate Javeed Hubbi, Rashid claimed that some inmates, especially male eunuchs with a history of HIV, are being deliberately placed with Kashmiri prisoners to stir trouble. "Rashid had a narrow escape when a group of male eunuch inmates together pushed and threw a gate on him. It was a miraculous escape. Had it hit directly, it could have been fatal. This is nothing short of a deliberate attempt to physically harm him," said Hubbi. The jailed MP shared serious details: "Tihar Jail authorities have devised new methods to harass Kashmiri prisoners by deliberately lodging male eunuchs with them inside barracks, who are encouraged to provoke, attack and create a hostile environment." This shocking disclosure shows a grim side of prison life where violence and harassment are carefully cooked up. Rashid named several Kashmiri inmates, like Ayoub Pathan of Beerwah, Bilal Mir of Qamarwari, and Amir Gojri of Srinagar, who were first attacked by these hostile inmates. Another prisoner, Arshid Tanch of Kupwara, faced humiliation too. Adding to the tension, the harassment gets worse during prayer time. "The harassment crosses all limits whenever Kashmiris begin their Namaz (prayers), with deliberate attempts made to disturb and provoke them," revealed the Awami Ittehad Party’s statement. In response, AIP has demanded an independent probe to uncover the truth behind these powerful allegations. The party wants justice and safety for all Kashmiri prisoners trapped in a dangerous web inside Tihar. What will happen next? Will the jail authorities respond?
