US Open 2025 is serving some spicy tennis moments in New York! In a nail-biting all-Italian quarterfinal, Jannik Sinner lit up the court and showed his power by beating Lorenzo Musetti in straight sets — 6-1, 6-4, 6-2. Sinner looked in full control from the start and didn’t let Musetti get close. The match lasted about two hours, with Sinner clutching great serves and eye-popping shots that left Musetti frustrated. After the match, Sinner spoke about facing his friend Musetti. He said, "I try to really, well, you know… we’re from the same country, we have so many Italian players every time in the draw. I know there are many Italians here, so, you know, it’s nice to play here. Obviously, you know, playing Davis Cup together and then stuff like this, we have to put the friendship aside for the match. And then, obviously, when we shake hands, everything is fine. From my point of view, it was a great performance, very solid, especially starting very, very well in the match." He added how special it is playing at the US Open, "It’s a very special tournament, as always — it’s the last Grand Slam of the year. It’s the last big tournament we have throughout the season. So there is no better place to play a night match than here, in the biggest stadium we have, with an amazing crowd. So, it means a lot to me." When asked about Italy’s tennis strength, Jannik proudly said, "It’s amazing. For sure, at home, some Italians didn’t sleep tonight, you know, so we are very proud to be Italian. We are very… it’s… as I said, it’s a special country. We have amazing support. Italians are basically everywhere, so… it’s great to be Italian." The semifinals await him against the hot-in-form Felix Auger-Aliassime. The day was full of twists! In women’s singles, Naomi Osaka gave an emotional performance that ended in tears of joy. She won a thrilling match against Karolina Muchova in a 7-point tiebreaker, securing her spot in the semis. She will face Amanda Anisimova, who shocked fans by defeating the top player Iga Swiatek earlier. Meanwhile, Indian tennis fans cheered as the doubles teams Yuki Bhambri/Michael Venus and Katerina Siniakova/Taylor Townsend won their semi-final matches and moved on to finals, adding more spice to the US Open story.
