Get ready for a powerful showdown in Paris! On Thursday, the big guns of Europe—the leaders of France and the UK—will co-chair a crucial summit with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Why all the excitement? This meeting is part of a fresh international push to end Russia’s grueling three-and-a-half-year invasion of Ukraine. The summit, dubbed the “Coalition of the Willing,” will see about 30 countries, mostly from Europe, come together. Some leaders will be there face-to-face, while others join via video calls from afar. Leading the charge are France’s President Emmanuel Macron and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, setting the stage for serious talks. What’s on the agenda? The Elysee Palace says the main focus will be the "security guarantees for Ukraine". The leaders plan to review the recent work done to protect Ukraine and weigh the harsh reality of Russia's stubborn refusal to make peace. As the French presidency puts it, they want to "promote diplomacy because the Russians are wriggling out again" of efforts to stop the war. Notably, US President Donald Trump won’t be a part of this event. Meanwhile, the day before the summit, ministers from the coalition countries will meet to discuss military support for Ukraine. A spokesperson for French minister Sebastien Lecornu revealed these crucial talks will pave the way for the summit’s decisions. In other words? This summit is a bold attempt to rally support around Ukraine and bring Russia to the negotiation table. Will it work? The world will be watching Paris closely as leaders unite to fight for peace and security in war-torn Ukraine!
