In a vibrant episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati Season 17, Ameya Vinayak Deshpande took the hotseat as the second contestant and grabbed everyone’s attention! Ameya is a hardworking management consultant whose inspiring story touched the hearts of the audience. Ameya spilled the beans on his humble beginnings. His parents lived in a tiny 200 sq. ft. home. His father worked as a labourer, while his mother did many odd jobs to keep the family financially steady. Despite these struggles, they both ensured Ameya and his sister received a good English medium education in a private school. The quiz got fiery at the Rs 1 lakh question: “Called ‘Uluru’ in the native language, in which country would you find this natural wonder?” Options were Mexico, Mongolia, Senegal, and Australia. Using his first lifeline, a valuable hint, Ameya confidently chose Australia and nailed it! What really warmed hearts was Ameya’s dream about his family home. He shared, “I want to buy a 1000 sq. ft. house where my mother’s room is more than 280 sq. ft.” He beautifully recalled, “My father was very happy and it made me recall when she was first happy. I remembered, when I got her an automatic washing machine with my first salary. I wanted to make her life easier. I would see my mother watching TV while the clothes were being washed.” What a touching tribute to his mother’s hard work! Host Amitabh Bachchan then asked Ameya about the gifts he bought his parents with his first salary. Big B shared a heartfelt story from his own life: "I had thought of getting a saree for my mother and a watch for my father. I was working in Kolkata back then. As soon as I got my salary, I took leave from office and went home. I gave the saree to my mom and the watch to my father. But when he opened the box, the watch was missing! The house help had stolen it! I was so upset that day. I promised myself to work so hard that I can buy my father not one but 10 watches." Back to the game, Ameya faced the Rs 5 lakh question: “Tresind studio, the first Indian restaurant to receive 3 Michelin stars, is located in which city?” The options were New York, Dubai, Singapore, and London. Using the audience poll lifeline, Ameya smartly picked Dubai and got it right! Though his game ended there, Ameya became a rollover contestant, keeping hopes alive for a bigger jackpot next time. This episode mixed emotion, wit, and excitement in perfect KBC style—proving once again that every contestant has a unique story worth cheering!
