New Delhi is buzzing as National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO) announces a grand plan! The company is ready to invest a whopping ₹30,000 crore over the next five years. The aim? To ramp up aluminium smelting and increase power generation. Brijendra Pratap Singh, the chairman and managing director, says the huge fund will come from loans and their own savings. Exciting news comes from Angul! According to Singh, "NALCO plans to add 1 million tonnes (mt) of aluminium refining capacity by June next year in Angul." This means NALCO's total aluminium capacity will jump to a massive 3.1 mt. Imagine all the shiny aluminium products that could come from this expansion! But that's not all. NALCO is planning to spend ₹18,000 crore to build a new aluminium smelter in Odisha. This will pump up aluminium production and give the state a big industrial boost. Plus, the remaining ₹12,000 crore is reserved for a coal-fired power plant. NALCO is already talking with Coal India and NTPC to get this power project on track. With these ambitious moves, NALCO is showing its muscle as a top PSU aiming for big growth in metals and power sectors. Odisha is clearly gearing up to become a bright hub for aluminium and energy.
