Parvesh Verma Leads Big Push to Modernize Delhi Toll Systems, Clear Illegal Encroachments

August 25, 2025

Get ready, Delhi! The city’s roads and tolls are about to get smarter and cleaner. PTIPWD Minister Parvesh Verma held a powerful meeting to fast-track modern toll systems, recover money owed by users, and wipe out illegal encroachments that block our roads. The meeting was a big deal, with top officials from NHAI, Delhi Traffic Police, PWD, BSES, Delhi Jal Board, Environment Department, MCD, Revenue Department, and Power Department coming together. Parvesh Verma made it clear: "Delhi must lead in adopting technology for efficient traffic management." The old ways of collecting tolls are out! The future is here with gantry-based tolling using ANPR cameras, RFID readers, and FASTag integration. This means no more slow queues and easier toll payments. But money talks too. A whopping ₹50.18 crore is still pending in rents at the Rajokri toll plaza. Plus, user fees at the Badarpur fee plaza are delayed. Parvesh Verma did not mince words: agencies must speed up recovery of these dues so public funds can build better roads and services. Illegal encroachments are a big headache, especially on Urban Extension Road-II near Najafgarh-Bahadurgarh Road. The MCD has been ordered to remove these immediately. The minister warned, "Encroachments and dumping are not just administrative failures, they are direct obstructions to Delhi's progress." The nuisance doesn’t stop there. Illegal hoardings litter spots like the Mahipalpur flyover, Delhi-Meerut Expressway, and the Delhi-Saharanpur stretch. Unauthorized parking near Gandhi Nagar on the NH-709B elevated road is another issue needing a crackdown. Parvesh Verma demanded all these illegal structures be cleared for a safer, obstruction-free highway. Maintenance was also on the table. The Mahipalpur flyover and Badarpur elevated section need urgent repairs to stop costly damage and commuter troubles. The committee spotted illegal sewerage connections into stormwater drains along highways, which can worsen monsoon floods. These will be disconnected right away, with penalties for the culprits. Delhi is gearing up for a smoother, cleaner, and smarter road future. Thanks to the firm hand of Parvesh Verma and the united efforts of multiple departments, the city’s highway nightmare might soon become history. Brace yourself, Delhi—not just a city on the move, but a city moving smart!
