The Banakal Police in Mudigere taluk, Chikkamagaluru district, Karnataka, have registered a case against Krishna Rao, a temple priest. He is accused of raping a woman by promising to clear flaws in her horoscope. The complaint was filed on February 2. The woman told police she approached Krishna Rao for marriage advice. After checking her horoscope, Krishna Rao said it had flaws (doshas) and she needed rituals to fix them. The accused allegedly raped her several times starting November 2025, using the rituals as a pretext. The police booked him under sections of the BNS and the SC-ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989.
